Hello. My name is Ben Demaree.

Portfolio

Below, you can find my portfolio. It’s in pretty constant flux, so don’t be surprised if some things leave and new things show up. Also please bear in mind that some of my portfolio items are older, and are thusly coded less-than-perfectly, or with older standards.

Project Zeus

Project Zeus is a minisite that I developed in conjunction with Andrea McNett for the University of Minnesota Mobile App Challenge.  We are currently developing a mobile bus-riding app for Metro Transit in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.  We’re really excited to be working on such a project.

More information on the project and what we’re doing can be found in this article I wrote up.

Platteville Public Schools

The Platteville Public Schools needed a website overhaul. Another designer and I utilized XHTML, CSS, Javascript, and some PHP/MySQL to create a site. Using some plugins and some custom code, I also implemented LDAP as a login method for WordPress, which was used as a CMS solution for faculty and staff. WordPress gave them the ability to set up a classroom website and other similar resources for students. The site does include a completed side project, a “Career Clusters” mini-site featuring a carousel effect. You can visit that here.

The version of the site linked here is incomplete; the project was terminated before its completion. Many of the links will not work. Though this demo is nearly 3 years old, it still validates as XHTML strict.

Platteville Public Library

The Platteville Public Library lacked a maintainable website that conveyed their new graphic identity. Working with another designer, we built a website around the new graphic style and on top of a WordPress CMS solution. The site featured several blogs that were seperately maintained by department. The homepage is heavily animated via jQuery.

The version of the site linked here is incomplete; the project was terminated before its completion. Most of the links are non-functioning or link to broken WordPress installations. A significant amount of the site was also lost in the Great Hard Drive Crash of ’09. This demo may not work outside of Firefox and Chrome.
